Identifying Sources of Illness

Many learners will be able to identify illnesses that they know about. The teacher can provide the source and have the students provide the types of illnesses or disorders frequently transmitted through the source. Here is a list organized by different sources:

Source Illness or Disorder
People Colds, Flus, Pink eye, Cold sores, Hair lice, AIDS, Hepatitis
Animals (Pets or Wildlife) Flea bites, Rabies, Hantavirus (from mouse droppings)
Insects Mosquito or Blackfly Bites, Bee Stings, Ticks (carry Lyme disease)
Plants Food or Pollen allergies, Poisonous plants, berries or seeds (eg. Jimsonweed seeds)
Unclean Water, Uncooked Food Swimmer's itch infections from E.coli or Salmonella bacteria
